Andrew A. Bowser Jr., 87, of West Paducah, KY, formerly of Sparta, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Andrew was born on March 26, 1939, in Kittanning, PA, the son of the late Andrew A. Bowser Sr. and Hilda (Lemmon) Bowser. On February 2, 2002, he married the love of his life, Karol Lowery Bowser, who survives.
Andrew dedicated much of his career to the grocery industry, serving as a store manager for Meijer in Michigan, Alpha Beta in California, and Cub Foods in Illinois. He also proudly owned and operated his own grocery store in Minonk, Illinois, for ten years.
A hardworking man who rarely sat still, Andrew was always busy tackling a new project or lending a helping hand to others. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed sharing his love of books with Karol. Together, they cherished traveling in their fifth-wheel camper, exploring the nation's beautiful parks, waterfalls, and Michigan's picturesque lighthouses. Along the way, spending time with family and friends across the country made each journey even more meaningful.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Karol Bowser ; his sons, Andy Bowser, Rocky (Arleen) Bowser, and Brent (Sherri) Bowser; and his daughter, Amanda Bowser. Andrew was also a devoted stepfather to Traci Ayers, Holly Carrell, Bob Kettner, John (Erika) Kettner, and Tammie (Dave) Hildreth. He was especially proud of his growing family and found his greatest joy in his 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his sisters, Gay Walter, Joanne Dusenbury, and Joyce Russo; and his brother-in-law, Bob Walter.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 2:00pm at Hopewell Cemetery in Downs, IL, with John Lehman officiating.
Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Bowers.
