Bernard A. Williams Jr., age 78, affectionately known as Bernie, passed away on April 18th, 2026, surrounded by family and dear friends. He was known for his adventurous spirit, vibrant personality, enthusiasm, and strong will. Always the life of the party, Bernie had a natural gift for entertaining those around him. His storytelling ability was a cherished trait, captivating audiences and bringing laughter to family and friends alike.
Bernie started working in his early years at the Market Basket where he found his passion for landscaping and being outdoors. He enjoyed all sports, but his favorite teams were the Tennessee Volunteers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He passed down his mother’s rich heritage by teaching all of his grandchildren how to speak French and sharing her recipes. He loved to cook and enjoyed a good meal.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Jennifer Edmonds (Preston) of Paducah, Julie Sparks (Darren) also of Paducah, his Brothers Terry Williams, Michael Williams, and Paul Williams (Mary) and several nieces and nephews. His life continues through his grandchildren Rebecca Alexander (Morgan), Lance Edmonds (Mary Beth), Presley Edmonds, and Micah Sparks. Bernie was further blessed to anticipate the arrival of a great-grandchild, soon-to-be baby girl Alexander.
God’s loving kindness was shown to Bernie always, but especially in his last days by allowing him to be with his family. We are forever grateful for this gift.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Jacqueline Williams, whose memory he honored throughout his life.
Visitation for Bernie will be held on April 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home located at 2410 Jackson Street, Paducah, KY 42003. A memorial service will immediately follow from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Williams family.
