Joann Reedy, age 79 of Paducah, born on March 4, 1946, in Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 20, 2026. Joann was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to strength, independence, and generosity.

Joann had a varied career throughout her life, holding many positions, with her most notable role being the head cook at Dalton City Grade School, where she dedicated 17 years of service. Those who had the pleasure of crossing her path fondly remember her delightful gift of Reese's peanut butter cups, which she gladly shared.

In addition to her professional life, Joann was an avid gardener, a volunteer, and a talented crafter. Her love for crocheting, quilting, and canning vegetables from her garden brought her joy. Alongside her late husband, Jerry, she created magical moments through "Santa's Workshop", where they crafted special pieces for their children and grandchildren, ensuring that their holiday season was filled with wonder and excitement.

Joann's dedication to her family was apparent in everything she did. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, finding immense pride in her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Rodney Reedy and wife Laura of Paducah; her daughter, Theresa Lane and husband Mark of Decatur, Illinois; and her grandchildren, Jessica Awbery and husband Brandon of Paducah, and Travis Johnson of Decatur, Illinois. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she often reminisced about the profound impact her husband, Jerry Lee Reedy, had on her life, missing him dearly since his passing nearly 30 years ago.

Joann was not only a devoted family member but also a proud member of the Southland Baptist Temple for nearly 20 years. One of her most cherished memories was her visit to the Holy Land with her dear friends. Her service and dedication did not go unnoticed; she received a plaque for Volunteer of the Year from The Carson Center in 2010, recognizing her heart for her community. Joann gladly gave her time to her community by volunteering not only at The Carson Center but also The Baptist Imaging Center Hospital.

Joann's legacy is one of love, kindness, and resilience. She was tiny but mighty, representing the essence of a loving spirit with a sweet personality that touched the lives of many. Her brilliant mind was a source of inspiration to those who knew her.

Joann will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Vernon and Venita Marie Perkins; her husband, Jerry Lee Reedy; and siblings, Robert Perkins, Donna Gharst, and Sondra Carnahan and her fur baby, Gidget. In her last moments, Joann was surrounded by the comfort of her home, with a heart full of grace as she went to be with her Savior and rejoined her beloved husband, who is the love of her life.
