Carol J. Powell

Carol J. Powell, age 79, passed away peacefully at her residence in Paducah, Kentucky, on August 22, 2026. Born on May 17, 1947, in Madison, South Dakota, she led a life marked by kindness, unwavering devotion, and a deep commitment to caring for others.

Carol’s compassionate heart guided her into a meaningful career in caregiving. Over the course of more than 25 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medication Aide, she touched the lives of countless patients with gentle hands and a patient heart. Her pride in her work was evident to all who knew her, and even upon retirement, her calling did not fade. In a testament to her selfless nature, Carol opened her home to her niece Stacey, for whom she provided loving care for over a decade.

Family was the cornerstone of Carol's world. Her warmth and presence were the threads that knit her loved ones together. Carol is survived by her daughters, Kim Mathis (Tim) of Franklin, TN, Donna Scott (Jamie Gray) of Paducah, and Charlotte Pugh of Paducah; her brother, Arnie Seivers (Connie); her sister, Debbie Bastin (Roger) of Hobart, IN; her grandchildren, Aaron Mathis (Grace), Ross Mathis (Monica), Andrew Scott (Stephanie), Jordan Nichols (Tyler), and Katie Woodruff; and her great-grandchildren, Harper Nichols, Carter Scott, Tucker Nichols, and Ariana Scott. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilmore Seivers; her mother, Maxine Webb; her brother, Vern Seivers; and her sisters, Rhonda Kuhl and Linda Oldham.

Those closest to Carol will remember her as a devoted caregiver not just in vocation, but in every aspect of her life. She found joy in the simple comforts of home, cherishing times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To her great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Mom, Grandma, and Carol, each name carrying its own special meaning and reflecting the close bond they shared with her.  A quiet evening watching crime shows like Dateline brought her contentment, as did the loyal companionship of her beloved dog, Trixie.

Among her proudest accomplishments, Carol treasured her years of service to others and her acceptance of Christ as her Savior in 1971, a faith that anchored her life in love and hope.

Carol is remembered with deep love and respect, her spirit living on in those she cared for so abundantly.
