Charles J. Keeling, affectionately known as "Mr. Clean," passed away peacefully at his residence February 10, 2024. He was born on February 10, 1935, in Paducah, Kentucky to the late Fred and Dorothy Jeffords and later adopted by the late Huie and Lorene Keeling. Charles was the loving husband of Glenn J. Keeling for an incredible 71 years.
Throughout his life, Charles had a remarkable career that showcased his strong work ethic and dedication. He started his professional journey at Paducah Marine Ways and later joined Modine Manufacturing. However, it was his role as a boilermaker at Illinois Central Gulf Railroad that became a significant part of his life. He eventually moved to VMV Enterprises, where he worked until his retirement. Charles took great pride in his work and was known for his unwavering commitment.
Beyond his professional achievements, Charles cherished the time spent with his beloved family. One of his fondest memories included going camping with them, creating lasting bonds and wonderful adventures together. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he instilled the values of hard work and resilience in his family members.
Among Charles' diverse interests was woodworking, which brought him immense joy. He poured his heart into this hobby and ensured that he passed down this skill to future generations within the family. In addition to woodworking, he also found solace in fishing, playing cards with friends, and retreating to his homeplace in Tennessee with his children and grandchildren.
Charles will always be remembered for being hardworking and deeply caring for those around him. His proudest accomplishment undoubtedly lies within the love he showered upon his family. His dedication to their happiness was truly inspiring.
In recognition of Charles' life well-lived, family and friends are invited to attend visitation services on Friday, February 16th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home located at 2410 Jackson Street in Paducah, Kentucky. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 17th, beginning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Jonathan Goodman officiating. Entombment will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife Glenn J. Keeling, his loving children Glenda (Walter) Bridges, Pennie (Scott) Brian, Tina Keeling, Tony P. Keeling, and Randy (Crystal) Keeling all of Paducah; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of pride and joy for him; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brother and three sisters who will forever cherish the memories shared with their beloved sibling.
Charles J. Keeling's life serves as a testament to the enduring power of love, hard work, and family values. He will be dearly missed but always cherished in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
