Listen to Obituary

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Marie Auler of Paducah, aged 66, on May 20, 2026, in Paducah, Kentucky.

Born on January 10, 1960 (birth recorded as January 11), in Pulaski County, Missouri, Cindy was a 1978 graduate of Carmi Community High School and a 1982 graduate of Murray State University.

Cindy spent most of her childhood in Carmi, Illinois, where she grew up loving the outdoors and sports. She was a lifeguard and taught multiple generations of children and adults to swim during her high school and college years. Lessons started as early as 7 a.m. and she taught her own mother to swim. She later ran a daycare in her home, sold real estate, directed activities at a cerebral palsy center, worked in retail, and taught as a substitute teacher during different periods while raising her children. For the last thirty years, she followed her passion in resale work, inheriting the “search-for-a-good-deal-gene” from her father.

Family was always the center of Cindy’s world, and she was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by a son Jonathon Auler of Paducah; a daughter Kimberly Auler and four grandsons--Parker Joseph, Briar Ashby, Granger William, and Colter Robert Lauer all of Crossville, Illinois; three sisters—Nancy (Andy) Harton of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Reker of Paducah, and Jeanne (Keith) Bundy of Paducah; and one brother—Colonel William (Jennie) Reker of Madison, Alabama. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents John and Judy Reker, her infant brother John Reker Jr., and son-in-law Robert Lauer.

Cindy came from a long line of strong women of faith, raised in the General Baptist community. Her legacy is one of warmth, resilience, and love—always putting others first. She loved the beach, the mountains, exploring new destinations, going out to eat (Olive Garden and Panera among her favorites), being Granny and spending time with her grandsons, playing cards and games with her family, and making others smile. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by all that knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.

Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Auler family.
