Darrel Eugene McElrath

Darrel Eugene McElrath, age 61, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his home in Paducah. It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of his passing, as addiction proved to be a battle he fought against but lost due to its powerful grip. Darrel was dearly loved and treasured by his family, and he will be deeply missed.

Darrel was of the Christian faith and never hesitated to extend help to both friends and strangers any time he was needed. 

In his life, Darrel tenderly cared for his beloved wife Judy during her long battle with cancer. Just under a month ago, he lost Judy, whom he loved deeply. We have peace in knowing that they have been reunited once more in Heaven after a short separation. Darrel was also preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary McElrath, as well as his brother Mark McElrath - all of Paducah.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister Linda McElrath of Paducah; brothers Benjamin McElrath from Cadiz, KY and Michael McElrath from Melbourne, Florida; sister Brenda Anderson (Robert) from Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. Despite the miles that may have separated them, love always bridged the distance. 

A private burial service will be held at Liberty Cemetery in Hickory, Kentucky for immediate family members to honor and celebrate Darrel's life, at a later date.

We extend our gratitude to all those who have supported the family during this difficult time. A special thank you to Amanda Melton, Coroner for her care and support. The family has entrusted Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home to attend to Darrel's final arrangements.
