David L. Higdon, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at Baptist Health Paducah, with his cherished wife, Arlyn "Cookie" Higdon, by his side. Born on August 11, 1960, in Mayfield, Kentucky, David lived a life filled with love, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to his country.
As a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, David served admirably and carried that patriotism throughout his life. After his military service, he became a dedicated AT&T Field Engineer, a role that showcased his intelligence and technical skills. David attained an associate's degree, further emphasizing his commitment to learning and growth.
To know David was to love him. He had a kind heart, a brilliant mind, and a personality that drew people in. His warmth and genuine nature touched the lives of those around him. David held a particular love for children, often finding joy and inspiration in their laughter and innocence.
David cherished his hobbies, immersing himself in books, bowling, and the digital worlds of computers and Xbox. He was an avid sports fan, passionately supporting the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Many fond memories were made over shared meals of Mexican food, with chocolate always being the favorite indulgence.
Family was at the core of David's life. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Arlyn "Cookie" Higdon, and his sons, Jeremy Scott Hilton (Melinda) of New York and Aaron Darnell (Karen) of Virginia, and his brother, Robert Higdon (Cathy) of Elgin, Illinois. He was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy into his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sandra Ferguson, whose love and guidance shaped the man David became.
David L. Higdon's legacy of love, compassion, and pride in his country will continue to inspire those who knew him. A memorial service to celebrate his remarkable life will be held on July 25, 2025, at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home in Paducah, Kentucky, starting at 3:00 PM with Pastor Stephen Boyken officiating. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor a man who touched so many hearts and left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
