Don Edward Choate

Don Edward Choate, born on October 31, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Mills Health & Rehab Center in Mayfield, Kentucky. Don was a dedicated family man and a retired employee of Florida Power and Light, where he devoted many years of his life.

A proud United States Air Force Veteran, Don served his country with honor and distinction. His legacy is carried on by his loving family, which includes his daughter, Deborah Choate (Lesley Kent) of New Orleans, LA; his two sons, Chuck (Lori) Choate and David (Daniela) Choate, both of Mayfield, KY; and his sisters, Sula Kaye (Tom) Davis of Roanoke, VA, and Diana (Cotton) Bennett of Malden, MO. He took great joy in being a grandfather to his three grandchildren: Dustin Choate of Mayfield, KY, Daphne (Daniel) Riley of Mayfield, KY, and Jessica (Alyssa) Choate of Wingo, KY; as well as his three great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Herman and Freda (Wickens) Choate, who instilled in him the values of hard work and respect. His memory will be honored and cherished by his family and friends, as they reflect on his warm spirit and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
