Rest in Eternal Peace Bro. Harold! You and Sue meant a lot to the McManus Family and had an impact on our lives. You married our daughter Christy and Kevin Massie, my sister and Wilbur Guhy. We had Christy's wedding reception at Southland and way back years ago you, Sue and Aunt Bertie and Uncle Wilson were close friends. You will be greatly missed but you will enjoy seeing Heaven and being in the company Of Jesus. How Glorious can that be!!!!

Sue, Bro. Topper, Nat, Sherry and family, My sympathy is with all of you and I know this truly is a loss for all. Some of early childhood memories are of Southland and how I love that church. This world needs more people teaching and learning theology and the Bible like he taught. Dr.Jack Van Impy is the closest to speaking like Bro Harold. I take comfort in knowing he made this world a better place and the many people he lead to the Lord. What a blessing he was.

To all of Bro. Harold's family, This great man of God has been very dear to our hearts, even though we have been separated by miles through the years, our hearts and spirits and always remained close. Thank you for the great legacy that this family has left all for the Glory of God. You will be missed Bro. Harold, because "your seat will be empty." We shall see each other face to face soon.  Today is the one the happiest and saddest days of my life, so far, out of nearly seven billion people a dear friend of ours answered his Heavenly Calling this afternoon and received his wings! A little over thirty-three years ago I met a man that was as close to Jesus as my beloved Papaw, his name is Brother Harold Council and he married my beloved, Toni Kay Baker Phillips and myself forever on Friday 03 Oct 1980 in Paducah, Ky., at Southland Baptist Temple. In my life on Earth there have been only two people that I consider to be in the same class as Jesus Christ on Earth, one was my Papaw, Robert Franklin Phillips, and the other was, Brother Harold Council, as true of a man of God if there ever was one!!! If only half the men that claim to be a man of God were even a fraction of Brother Harold our entire world be such a better place to be in!!! Godspeed my old friend and thank you for being the great Christian example that you always were to us all!!!!!!!!!!

Praying for the Council family today as they celebrate the life of a very dear man. Bro. Harold (Papaw) always made me feel like part of the family every time I was around. Thank you Papaw for ALWAYS being there when I needed guidance and just someone to talk to when I was going through some pretty tough times. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Love you and Mamaw very much. Thank you for sharing your love for others and for telling us the stories of what you are experiencing now. Until we meet again . . . Cindy
