Gary Thomas Lee, age 72, born on November 28, 1953, in Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on February 23, 2026, at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky. He was 72 years old.

Gary dedicated nearly 20 years of his life to being a mercenary for Blackwater Security, during which he traveled to 16 different countries. His work involved escorting military personnel through perilous hot zones, where his exceptional skills in long-range shooting earned him numerous military-issued awards. A black belt in tae kwon do and an adept deer hunter, Gary embodied the spirit of resilience and expertise in every aspect of his career.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary was a great father who took pride in mentoring young boys, imparting invaluable skills and guidance to help them grow into men. He cherished the opportunity to make a positive impact in their lives, embodying the traits of a dedicated coach, having previously led the Reidland Middle School football team to victory during his tenure as a football coach, culminating in three county championships. In 1972, he was a standout linebacker for the Reidland Middle School football team, contributing to their State Championship title. Gary was also recognized as a Golden Gloves boxer, proudly holding a record of 19 wins and only one loss.

Gary’s interests included a deep passion for corvettes, a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love for life. He was a man of faith, adhering to the Baptist denomination.

He is survived by his son, Kary Lee (Amanda Odell) of Paducah; sister, Pam Soulliere of Canada; grandson, Koty Lee; and great-granddaughter, Claire Lee. Gary leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength, mentorship, and dedication to his family and community.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Dorothy Lee, his daughter-in-law, Kari Lee, and his brother-in-law, Mike Soulliere. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will forever be remembered for his resilience, passion, and commitment to helping others.
