Jerry T. Cowan, beloved father, grandfather, and fiancé, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah. Born on February 19, 1958, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Jerry had a remarkable life marked by his dedication to family, work, and passion for the outdoors.

Retired from a successful career in construction and mechanics, Jerry was known for his ability to fix anything with skill and determination.  A proud member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors' Association, he fostered a deep love for working with horses, reflecting his strong appreciation for the simple joys of life.

An ardent lover of the outdoors, Jerry found solace in the activities that spoke to his heart. He delighted in tractor pulling, fishing, and farming, working tirelessly with his hands while always having a cup of coffee nearby. His unwavering dedication to his interests made him a valued companion to those who shared his passions.

Most importantly, Jerry was deeply proud of his family and cherished his role as a father and grandfather. He is survived by his fiancée, Betsy Derr, who brought love and companionship into his life. He leaves behind his sons, Jerry Sweet of Benton and William Jennings of Paducah, along with his daughter, Jeri Anne Jennings (Brian Daviau) of Paducah. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Anthony Sweet, Taylor Sweet, Lizabeth Benoit, and Ramond Daviau, who will always cherish the memories of their time with him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Geraldine Cowan, as well as his brother, William Cowan, and sister, Darlene Cowan. While they will be missed, their indelible imprint on his life and the lives of those he left behind will forever be a source of comfort and reflection.

Jerry T. Cowan will be remembered not only for his skills and dedication but also for the warmth he brought into the lives of others. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and the stories they will continue to share.
