Service to others was woven deeply into Janet’s character.
Janet Carole Harris Farmer, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah, at the age of 83. Janet was born on December 21, 1942, in Paducah, KY, the daughter of the late William Russell and Thelma Marie (Morre) Harris. Janet was a proud 1960 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. Service to others was woven deeply into Janet’s character. She was a proud past president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, establishing friendships through shared values and community involvement.
Janet’s faith was a guiding light in her life. She was a devoted member of Arcadia United Methodist Church in Paducah, where she generously gave her time and talents as a Cinnamon Sister. Alongside the other members, she baked homemade cinnamon rolls to raise funds, with all proceeds benefiting local ministries and helping children attend camp. Her zest for life was evident through her love for boating on the lake and treasured time spent at the Moors Resort. Janet found peace at the beach and joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid reader and devoted Elvis Presley fan, she will be remembered for the happiness she shared with those around her.
Janet is lovingly survived by her daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Atwood of Nashville, TN; her son, David Russell “Rusty” Farmer of Paducah; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda Marie and Neel Carroll of Paducah; her adored grandchildren: Christopher Allen Baker of New Orleans, LA, Russell Allen Farmer of Paducah, and Jennifer Lynn Farmer of Paducah; two beloved nieces, Melissa and Melinda Carroll, both of Paducah; and her great-niece, Hannah Carroll.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Lynn Abel Farmer; son-in-law, Mark K. Atwood; and longtime beloved partner, Arthur "Art" A. Azar.
A visitation with Janet's family will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home in Paducah. A memorial service will follow, beginning promptly at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Paschall officiating.
Janet Carole Harris Farmer will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Farmer family.
