Listen to Obituary

Linda Carol Burton, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah at the age of 74. Linda was born on May 18, 1952, in Elizabethtown, IL, the daughter of the late Elroy and Carlene Dunstan.

Linda dedicated her career to the care and comfort of others as a Registered Nurse. Her commitment and compassion led her to serve as a charge nurse at both Western Baptist Hospital and Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. She took pride in being a steady hand, offering reassurance and healing. In her spare time, she loved to read and watch tv. She was also an avid enthusiast of rock music, with a special fondness for the Eagles, whose music brought her comfort and happiness.

Her love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life. Linda’s greatest accomplishment and deepest source of pride were her children and her grandchildren, around whom her world revolved.

She is survived by her son, Michael Haney of Murray, KY; her three daughters, Tracy Clark, Kimberly Haney, and Kayla Apperson, all of Paducah; her brothers, Johnny Dunstan (Kelly), David Dunstan, and Paul Dunstan, all residing in Elizabethtown, IL; her sisters, Ima Rex of Dixon, IL, and Nigel Vinyard of Chicago, IL; and her seven beloved grandchildren—Bradley Clark (Leiah Cobble), Alexis Clark, Christopher Clark, Shane Young, Hannah Kerr, Marley Apperson, and Karley Apperson—who adored her and carry her memory in their hearts.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Martin.

Linda Carol Burton’s legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched along the way. As we honor her memory, we remember her gentle guidance, unwavering support, and the deep love she gave so freely.
