He understood the value of an honest day's work and took pride in knowing that his efforts helped provide for his family.

Mitchell W. Hunt, Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as “Weasel,” age 72, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on October 24, 2026, at his residence. He was born on November 17, 1953, in Shawneetown, Illinois, to the late Mitchell W. Hunt, Sr. and Mary Hunt.

Mitchell was a hardworking, devoted family man who believed in providing for the people he loved. He spent more than 40 years working as a concrete finisher with Local 1214. His years of dedication to his trade were a reflection of the strong work ethic, determination, and perseverance that defined so much of his life. He understood the value of an honest day's work and took pride in knowing that his efforts helped provide for his family.

Outside of work, Mitchell found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, where he could enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. He also enjoyed watching westerns, a favorite pastime that brought him many hours of entertainment. Mitchell had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dog, Baby Girl, who preceded him in death. The love he had for her was just one example of the softer side of a man who cared deeply for those he held close.

Above all else, Mitchell loved his family. Though life was not always easy, he worked hard, remained devoted to those he loved, and built a lifetime of memories that his family will carry with them forever. His presence, the stories he shared, and the little things that made him who he was will be remembered and treasured by those who knew him best.

Mitchell leaves behind three sons, Mitchell W. Hunt III (Tricia) of Paducah, Michael J. Cole (Abigail) of Paducah, and Matthew D. Hunt of Paducah; two sisters, Patricia A. Dickerson of Texas and Sheila Stokes of Kevil; and his significant other and special companion of the past ten years, Sheila Downing of Benton, with whom he shared love, companionship, and many cherished moments.

He was a proud grandfather to Tearinie Hunt (Drake), Brittany Hunt (Skyler), Addyson Hunt, Willow Clark, Austin Hunt (Neveah), and Matthew Hunt, all of Paducah. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Clayton Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Myles Jones, Braxton Jones, Kehlani Jones, and Londyn Jones. Each of them was a special part of the family he loved so dearly.

In addition to his parents, Mitchell was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Cindy Hunt; his sister, Brenda Driver; and his cherished dog, Baby Girl.

Mitchell “Weasel” Hunt, Jr. leaves behind more than the memory of a hardworking man. He leaves behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, strength, and devotion to family. His life was not measured by material things, but by the years he spent working to provide for those he loved, the memories made with family, and the simple joys that made life meaningful.

Though his family must now say goodbye, the love he gave and the memories he created will never fade. He will be remembered in the stories told, the laughter shared, the peaceful moments spent outdoors, and every reminder of a life that touched so many hearts.

He may be gone from their sight, but he will never be gone from their hearts.

Rest peacefully, Weasel. You were loved, and you will be deeply missed.
