Sandra L. Hamby, age 89 of Paducah, a devoted mother, faithful believer, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah. Born on December 4, 1936, in Paducah, Kentucky, Sandra lived a life marked by unwavering dedication to her family, faith, and work. Her family was her ultimate priority, and her role as a mother was one she embraced fully and lovingly.
Sandra and her beloved husband, Bobby Ray Hamby, embarked on a remarkable entrepreneurial journey later in life, starting their own snow cone business, "Paradise Snow," in their late 50's. For over 25 years, she committed herself to this enterprise, personally crafting all of the syrups from scratch and ensuring that every detail reflected care and quality. She retired from the business at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of Southland Baptist Temple for more than 60 years, where she served the community with love and grace. Sandra faithfully taught the beginners’ class for 13 years and was known for her culinary talents, especially her famous enchiladas prepared annually for the mission conference. Her commitment extended to working at the Southland Daycare, demonstrating her affection and service to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Muriel Fiser; her husband, Bobby Ray Hamby; her sons Anthony Chris Hamby, Lewis Lawson, son-in-law Jerry McMurtry; and her brother, Ronald Fiser.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her son, Daniel Ray Hamby, (Leslie) of Evansville, Indiana; Starr McMurtry of Paducah; grandchildren Cruz Baker (Sarah) of Jacksonville, Florida, Ben McMurtry (Melissa) of Sumter, South Carolina, Gerren Lawson (Crystal) of Mayfield, Josh McMurtry (Carrie) of West Frankfort, Illinois, Sarah Yancy (Josh) of Paducah, Santana Cole (William) of Belleville, Illinois, and Roman Hamby of Evansville; as well as great-grandchildren Chloe, Jackson, Sophie, Leeland, Patrick, Hadley, Ayla, Jerry, Zion, and Jackson. She also found companionship in her special friend, Larry Riley, and her beloved furbaby, Jaz.
Sandra’s proudest accomplishment was her deep and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a steadfast believer, living her faith with sincerity and devotion. Her love for others was evident in every aspect of her life, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on May 8, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home, located at 2410 Jackson Street, Paducah, Kentucky. The service will be officiated by Bro. Jimmy Franks and Bro. Jonathan Goodman.
